You've been working in the yard all day or just went for a jog and you're thirsty. Of course you are; it's the middle of the summer. You open the fridge and push aside the clear stuff and grab a nice cold brown soda. Wait, what?
There is something very important that needs to be said: Soda does not properly rehydrate you.
People, most sodas DEhydrate you more than you already are. Oh yea, they're also very bad for your health.
The book, The Five Soft Drink Monsters, says sodas are likely to cause impaired calcification of the bones, especially in children, and lead to an increased risk of osteoporosis in adults. There is even evidence of ingredients in sodas that can cause migraines, nerve damage and even increase the risk of Alzheimer's Disease!
"No worries," you say. "I'm drinking diet soda."
That's no better. The book (mentioned above, linked below) goes on to claim diet sodas are even worse for your health than regular sodas.
But everyone knows sodas are bad for you, don't they? They're basically just fizzy sugar water or sugary-tasting water with dyes and other chemicals. How can anyone possibly think this is a fitting way to hydrate your body?
Tap water. It's free, hydrating, and even helps strengthen your teeth. It's a no-brainer and I promise you'll feel much better after quitting sodas altogether.
I can't wait to get sued by Coca-Cola.

Just to think, they market coke as a refreshing drink on hot summers days and Leonard Nemoy likes it so much he will sing for it....
