I've taken on a strong interest in shadows as photo subjects lately. They're extremely illusive -- well, the good ones are.
This tree shadow on the side of an old brick building in Savannah, GA caught my eye as soon as I walked around the corner.
There really wasn't much to the shot, as far as getting the exposure right goes. It was a high contrast situation and that was exactly what I wanted for the photo. So, I just let the camera's meter tell me what it thought was best, knowing it would want to slightly overexpose the shot in matrix metering mode.
I think the shadow on the ground "growing" out of the corner of the photo then giving rise to the rest on the wall is a neat effect that adds lots of depth.
What do you think?
